Explain how and why producers of radio programmes target different audiences, refer to the radio 1 live lounge to support your answer.
The radio 1 live lounge tries to target a variety of audiences, the main one that is targeted is boys and girls from the age of 12-30 years old. The reason for this is because Radio 1 wants to adapt to modern society to gain a lot of popularity.
Radio 1 live lounge does this by using modern day slang words such as 'yo' and 'sup' which is a key way to apply themselves to teenagers who will listen in everyday. The reason that radio 1 live lounge uses slang words is because in everyday life for a teenager they won't say things such as 'Hello how are you' they will instead say things such as 'sup dude' and by being informal like this, they are attracting a wide target audience of teenagers.
Another way that Radio 1's live lounge targets different audiences is through the use of many different artists such as Ed sheeran, Drake, Sam smith etc. This is done by Radio 1 inviting artists onto the show and advertising their music to Gain a bigger following. The live lounge are also applying themselves to other genres of music such as rap, r + b, classic, pop etc. The reason this is done is to extend the amount of people who tune in to watch Radio 1 live lounge wether its through mobile, PC etc.
