Statement Of Intent
My
Statement Of Intent
By Jamie Levine
The brief has asked me to create an
entertainment music magazine that will target an audience of 14-18 year olds. I
have chosen to base my magazine around the genre Pop.
The title of my magazine will be ‘Bounce’
as it reflects the genre, as pop is a very fun and enthusiastic genre of music.
The colour scheme will be very bright and vibrant colours such as pink, blue,
orange and yellow to attract the younger target audience. My magazine will aim to
specifically target girls as stereotypically these colours are more attracted
to my chosen colour scheme and they are conventional to the pop genre. The
connotations of my colors are happy and jolly.
My USP will be a digital download to a
relatively new song. This will target my audience because radios aren’t
generally used anymore its mostly online so a digital download would target a
wide audience of people.
Within my magazine I plan on using
stereotypes conventional to pop. For example Pop music is very relatable and
positive, so I will construct my artist to have a very bright and friendly
expression.
I will then use the shot type of a mid-shot
as it is conventional for the genre pop and is also very engaging to the
audience.
I would then use everyday people and make
them seem engaged with the pop genre, I would also make them seem very happy
and approachable as it makes whoever reading the magazine feel very happy and
have good vibes.
For my double page spread I will use a very
simple layout as by doing this the reader can clearly see and read the
interview I have written.
I will address my target audience by using
a variety of techniques to pull the reader in such as rhetorical questions,
cover lines and straplines to attract people into reading further into the
magazine.
In terms of location I will choose an urban
environment such as the one of the school playgrounds or the front of the
school as the colors of the walls are conventional to most magazines I have
seen. This will contribute to my representation, as it will allow me to give
the audience a very bright and friendly vibe as I am using a bright and vibrant
wall. I would then photoshop this to make sure that the picture looks like its meant to be in the magazine and that it represents the pop genre.
